Also, it's time to strap in and get the words flowing on the The Summer Son: The Rift Book IV. I'll be starting tomorrow (March 4th), and the goal is to write 10,000 words a week over twelve weeks, which would put the second draft as being finished before the first week of June. I'll be posting updates every Saturday night to let you all keep track of my progress. So here's where we stand right now: March 3: 9,828 words I'll be seeing you next week at this time, if not sooner. Peace, gentle readers. RJD Yes, here we are folks. The new anthology is now here...at least the ebook is. The proofs for the paperback should be coming today, so if it looks good, it should go live in the next few days. For now, take a look at the fabulous new cover, description, and table of contents, which includes 12 fantastic authors. To say we're excited about this product is a bit of an understatement! …a young man tries to build a better life while trapped in a mall after a plague has killed off most of humanity… …zombies overrun a world gone mad, leaving a boy with no choice but to rely on possibly mystical means of escape… …Halloween night brings out a darkness so threatening that a young couple’s only hope of survival may be a procession of strange, ghostly children… …when the world is given a brief glimpse of divinity, a formerly disabled man must come to grips with the fact that not everything is as good as it seems… These tales and many more await in The Gate 2: 13 Tales of Isolation and Despair, the new collection edited by Robert J. Duperre. Thirteen talented authors have been assembled, bringing with them the best they have to offer in a wide range of horror, be it slice-of-life or paranormal in nature. Also included are two bonus stories by the editor. TABLE OF CONTENTS Introduction Plastic by J.L. Bryan The Indian Rope Trick by D.P. The Gate 2: 13 Tales of Isolation and Despair should be ready to publish come the middle of February. All the stories are in, and all that's left is editing and the illustrations and cover from TRO's better half. I'm really, really excited about this anthology. All the stories are fantastic, and there are a few that rank right up there with the best fiction I've ever had the pleasure of reading. There are a ton of great new writers featured, as well as a few carryovers from the first compilation. Oh, and check this out: That right there is Chorus, an illustration by the fabulous Jesse Young that both inspired one of the stories within and will appear on the back cover. Just looking at it, I'm sure you can see the direction in tone this collection is going to take. And now, here is the current table of contents, in the order I have them set to appear. Peace to all you gentle readers, and we'll see you soon. RJD That's right folks: David Dalglish, author of the Half-Orc and Shadowdance series, has started yet another series, this one chronicling the trials and travails of the paladins, both dark and light, that appear in his other books. Here's a look at the first installment, Night of Wolves. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION: "The humans are weak. Their skin is soft, and their minds dull from years of safety. We are the vicious. We are the destroyers. Come the full moon, when our goddess watches our victory, we will taste of their blood!" ---- Wolf-men, savage creatures given humanoid form in an ancient war, mass along the Gihon River. Led by their packleader Redclaw, they seek to cross the river and claim a land of their own, slaughtering those that would stand in their way. Two paladins, Jerico of the god Ashhur, and Darius of the god Karak, must helm the desperate defense against the invasion. Their friendship will be tested as their gods resume an unending war, and their very faiths call for the death of the other. Together, friend or foe, they must face Redclaw's horde. NIGHT OF WOLVES by David Dalglish Can faith remain when the gods call for blood? ABOUT THE AUTHOR: David Dalglish currently lives in rural Missouri with his wife Samantha, daughter Morgan, and snake, Velixar. He graduated from Missouri Southern State University in 2006 with a degree in Mathematics and currently spends his free time watching Spongebob Squarepants with his daughter. Night of Wolves is currently available in ebook format for the rock-bottom price of 99¢ at Amazon and Amazon UK. Yes, folks, the new book is up and running - on Amazon and Amazon UK in ebook format, that is. The paperback is still a few days away, but it'll get here, I promise. So, here's the cover and description: "Ken Lowery is a man at odds with his life. He hates his job, is disappointed in his marriage, and feels resigned to leading a mundane existence. That all changes when his wife brings home a rambunctious Black Labrador puppy named Silas, who forges a remarkable connection with Ken and begins to heal his inner turmoil. When some neighborhood children start to go missing, he takes it upon himself to protect those around him and is thrust into a surreal world where monsters roam. Not everything is what it seems to be, he soon discovers, including his new best friend." I really need to thank Dans Arenson and Pyle for their work beta-reading this manuscript. And of course I need to thank Jesse for the fantastic cover, Mel Rico for the lettering, and my wife for putting up with me. Last but not least, thank you Leo, my one-eyed yellow Lab, who was my true inspiration for writing this story. You gentle readers can purchase the ebook at, as I mentioned earlier, Amazon and Amazon UK Peace, folks, and we'll talk to you soon.... RJD Yes, folks, I'm a fanboy. So David Dalglish, whose books I absolutely adore, has just released his follow-up to the best-selling A Dance of Cloaks. And I'm here right now to announce that it is so. Go out and buy this book, people! I for one can't wait to read it when it shows up in my mailbox, because Mr. Dalglish never fails to send me review copies of all his work. Enough of me, now. Read up on this book below: A DANCE OF BLADES “Veldaren aches for a purge, and I will be the one to deliver it. Cry out at me if you wish, but it will change nothing. The gold is spent, the orders are given. Let the blood flow.” ---- It's been five years since Haern faked his death to escape the tyranny of his father. He has become the Watcher, a vicious killer who knows no limits, and whose hatred of the thief guilds is unrivaled. But when the son of Alyssa Gemcroft, one of the three leaders of the powerful Trifect, is believed murdered, the slaughter begins anew. Mercenaries flood the streets, with one goal in mind: find and kill the Watcher. A DANCE OF BLADES by David Dalglish Peace or destruction; every war must have its end. Now available for the Kindle on Amazon.com. Click here, or the cover image, to buy yourself a copy. Trust me, it's worth it. Okay, here's the latest update. I spent a good time of this week horribly sick, so it took some major cramming over the last two days to try and catch up at least a little bit. So here's the progress: Start: 1996 words. 2/27 - 22,137 words. 3/6 - 42,186 words. Words written this week - 20,049 Words still to be written - 57,814 Still quite a haul, but the story's really rounding into shape now, and as long as I don't get sick again (fingers crossed), I should be able to make major headway this coming week. Boo-ya, Mercedes! I'm an unstoppable machine! You should be vrey, vrey scared right now! See you next week. RJD The review blog, SyriaSays.com, was nice enough to give our little short story collection a rather glowing sendup. SYRIA SAYS REVIEW | The Rift Online Team
